Deep Cuts Corner: Volume 1 - Greyson Chance

I've decided to share some of my favorite music on the blog. Who knows, the longer this quarantine goes on I might even start my unfinished novel up again. But music has always been important to me so I thought it would be fun to share some Deep Cuts of artists that I love, starting with Greyson Chance. Yes, I hear the blowback, he's an up and coming artist how many deep cuts can he have? Actually, quite a few. To be fair to him, I didn't choose anything from either of his albums (unless you count Purple Sky which was only on the Japanese version of his first album), and that's not because there's nothing worthy of greatness or "deep cut" status, but simply because there were so many other options to choose from. I'll do 5 songs for each artist. So let's begin...

1) Purple Sky - years before he came out, Greyson penned this ode to some of the young LGBT people who'd been bullied and committed suicide.

2) Hungry Eyes - Greyson recorded this Eric Carmen cover for the live television remake of Dirty Dancing. As covers go, it sticks closely to the original, but that voice!

3) Earn It by Fabian Mazur (featuring Greyson Chance) - Yea, I admit it, part of the thrill is hearing him flip off some "dirty motherfucker", but then you've got that synth break in the chorus!

4) Walk Away by Sick Individuals (featuring Greyson Chance) - This song makes me sad on the one hand because I've been on the opposite end of this problem when you're with someone who needs to be drunk to say they love you (usually gay men who haven't fully admitted to themselves that they're gay yet), but it's so freaking catchy you can't help but move your body and be on Greyson's side however reluctantly.

5) London - This song is kind of vague as far as what the lyrics mean but listening to it I feel like it's the sister track to Walk Away except from the other person's point of view now. Singing to a lover who can't seem to get past his insecurities and be happy with the person he's with.
